I think I bought the wrong serum. What should I do?
Choosing the correct serum is important because each formulation is designed for a different type of scalp.
If your symptoms become noticeably worse after several applications, it may simply mean the other serum is more suitable for your scalp. In most cases, this can be corrected by switching to the appropriate serum.
The Dandruff-Control Intensive Scalp Serum is making my scalp feel drier or tighter. Why?
The Dandruff-Control Intensive Scalp Serum is formulated for oily, itchy or flaky scalps where excess oil and microbiome imbalance are thought to be contributing to symptoms.
It contains ingredients that help reduce excess scalp oil and rebalance the scalp microbiome. If your scalp is naturally dry or lacking moisture, the serum may make your scalp feel drier or tighter. If this happens:
✔ Wash the serum out thoroughly with water if it feels uncomfortable.
✔ The Microbiome-Friendly Moisturising Scalp Serum may be the more appropriate option for your scalp.
The Microbiome-Friendly Moisturising Scalp Serum is making my scalp feel oilier or itchier. Why?
The Microbiome-Friendly Moisturising Scalp Serum is formulated for dry, tight or moisture-deficient scalps.
It helps retain moisture and support a healthy scalp microbiome. If your scalp is already oily or experiencing microbiome overgrowth, the additional moisture may contribute to increased oiliness or itchiness. If this happens:
✔ Wash the serum out thoroughly with water if it feels uncomfortable.
✔ The Dandruff-Control Intensive Scalp Serum may be the more appropriate option for your scalp.
What if neither serum seems right for me?
While many customers experience significant improvements with Victory Serums, not every scalp condition is caused by dryness, excess oil or microbiome imbalance alone.
If your symptoms continue despite trying the appropriate serum, consider working through the free Victory Serums Pathway – 12 Weeks to Scalp Health, which explores other factors that may influence scalp health, including hair care, lifestyle, nutrition and environmental triggers.
If your symptoms remain unresolved, we recommend speaking with your GP or dermatologist. We can also refer you to qualified functional health practitioners for a more comprehensive consultation where appropriate.
Victory Serums receives no referral fees or commissions for these referrals. We simply believe that helping you find the most appropriate solution is the right thing to do.
Can I use both serums together?
For your initial treatment, no. We recommend using only one serum so you can clearly determine which formulation is best suited to your scalp.
The two serums are designed for different scalp conditions and should not be applied together when you are first identifying the underlying cause of your symptoms.
However, once your scalp has stabilised and you understand how it responds, some customers find that a combination approach works well as part of their long-term maintenance routine.
For example, if your scalp is generally dry but occasionally becomes oily or flaky, you may find it helpful to use:
-
Dandruff-Control Intensive Scalp Serum once a week or once a fortnight to help manage excess oil and microbiome imbalance instead of an anti-dandruff shampoo.
-
Microbiome-Friendly Moisturising Scalp Serum between treatments to help maintain scalp hydration and support the skin barrier.
Every scalp is different, so your long-term routine may change with the seasons, stress levels, hormonal changes or other factors.
